How long has the shop been in this neighborhood?
Lloyd’s Barbershop has proudly served this neighborhood for over 15 years. What began as a single shop has grown into two locations: Santa Monica, inside the Fairmont Hotel, and Brentwood, at the Brentwood Country Mart.
What's the neighborhood like these days?
It’s a true mix these days. You’ll find longtime families who’ve been here for years, young professionals building their lives in the area, and many of our regulars who’ve been with us from the very beginning. There’s also a strong presence of successful C-suite leaders, entrepreneurs, and creatives who appreciate the neighborhood’s energy and sense of connection. It still feels familiar in the best way, where people recognize each other and community comes naturally.
What's usually coming through the speakers?
It really depends on who’s behind the chair. You might hear classic hip-hop, smooth R&B, or the occasional old-school favorite. Our Santa Monica shop inside the Fairmont tends to lean a little more classic, while Brentwood brings in a more modern, younger sound. Either way, it’s never too loud. The music sets the mood, but you can always still have a conversation.
